Activities

It's important for those who have been diagnosed with Parkinson's to stay active and keep moving. Exercise is crucial not only for general health, but especially for Parkinson's patients. These are the current exercise groups being offered.

Fit to Fight

Utilizing boxing as a form of exercise along with other exercises to increase movement, flexibility, and balance. We have fun and enjoy the comradery. Come join us!

Meets at the Quincy YMCA (3101 Maine Street, across from Quincy High School)

 

Mondays Noon - 1:30 pm

Fridays 10:30 am - Noon

 

Note: This program is conducted by the YMCA and their staff and a fee is associated. For YMCA members, the cost is $10/month, $50/month for non-members

We offer a general exercise class for those with Parkinsons's and an exercise class specifically those who have completed the LSVT BIG program.

Meets at the Blessing Wellness Center (5009 Oak Street in the Oak Street Mall between the Holiday Inn on 48th Street and Walmart)

 

LSVT BIG Group  Mondays 10:00 am - 11:00 am

 

General Group Wednesdays 10:00am - 11 am

 

Both programs are free of charge.

Due to staffing issues, the schedule for our exercise groups for December 2021 has changed.

Mindy Entrup, the leader of our LSVT BIG and General Exercise groups has her own YouTube channel for Parkinson's Exercise. Even if you're not able to get out and about, you can still get the exercise you need. Check it out!

Tai Chi Exercise Group

Tai chi is excellent exercise to increase flexibility and balance. They also offer a tai chi chair class for those who have difficulty being on their feet for long periods of time.

Meets at the Quincy Senior and Family Resource Center (639 York Street)

 

Tuesdays and Thursdays 9:00 am - 10:00 am
